In this wonderful exhibition that just opened in Rio, old photographic processes have been used to produce contemporary images. Seven photographers - Ailton Silva, Cris Bierrenbach, Francisco Moreira da Costa, Mauro Fainguelernt, Ricardo Hantzschel, Roger Sassaki and Tiago Moraes - show us an intriguing counterpoint to today’s immediacy and transience of photography. As stated by curator Marcia Mello - herself a researcher of historical photographic techniques, “constructing landscapes, deconstructing images, fragmenting space, uniting different time periods, reviving emblematic objects and reinventing the portrait, these alchemists of art place images before us whose creative processes continue to surprise us”. 

The exhibit can be seen at Espaço Cultural BNDES, from August 2 to September 22, 2017.
