Submarines, sea battles, periscopes, airplanes, mythical voyages. These are some of the subjects of José Diniz’ exhibition “O céu vem abaixo” (The Sky is Falling) curated by Marcia Mello and currently being shown at Galeria Oriente. Since his childhood, Diniz had a fascination with everything related to the sea. His artistic work has been reflecting this interest, as in his earlier show, “Maresia” (2013) and his photobook “Periscópio” (2014).  Far for being literal translations of these themes, his images lead us on a trip over and under the sea opening up dream-like waterscapes punctuated with strange objects.
