Today, by invitation of Prof. Susanne Klengel, I gave a lecture at the Lateinamerika Institut, Freie Universität Berlin, about my most recent project, Berlin<>Rio : Routes & Memories. This work addresses displacements and memories of various generations of the Valentin family and my own contemporary view of it, revisited through black and white photographs done while I lived in Berlin from 2014 to 2015. This project was awarded the Marc Ferrez Photography Prize from FUNARTE, the Brazilian National Art Foundation. An exhibit and a book are scheduled for October 2016.
