Galeria Oriente: two exhibitions.

Two new exhibitions opened at Galeria Oriente. “O céu vem abaixo” (The Sky is Falling) includes recent works by José Diniz. The photographer’s main subjects have been the sea and the coast. Here, he shows us his imaginary views as if from a periscope, which, as he writes, “with its power to see without being noticed, becomes the ideal photographer’s fantasy, an alter ego whose lens could capture everything, without interference, just freely observing, with no restrictions”.

“Soror” (which in Latin means “sister”) presents the work of two young women artists, Silvana Andrade and Juliana Rocha, who address feminist issues, such as oppression and repression. They deconstruct social codes associated to the feminine and make us think about its cultural and symbolic representations. The exhibition is curated by photographer and editor Simone Rodrigues.

Galeria Oriente’s women team: Ana Luiza Prudente, Mônica Angeleas and Adriana Braga, celebrating with DJ Pieta.
